Could you be our newest volunteer?

2025 has gotten off to a joyful start at Bright Shadow, with our trademark Zest sessions re-starting after our festive break in Medway, Whitstable, Deal, and Hythe.

We’re on the lookout for some more people who might be interested in volunteering regularly with us at some of our Zest groups.

Why should I volunteer at Bright Shadow?

Our Zest groups are a regular creative, social and supportive space for people who live locally with dementia, and our supporters. You would be joining a brilliant team as part of the Zest community, helping our participants enjoy their time with us. You can also explore your creative side; our volunteers are encouraged to join in our sessions led by expert professional artists.

You don’t need to be an expert in dementia – a positive attitude, an open mind, and an enjoyment of helping others is key. We can support with all the rest.

I’m interested; what do I do?

You can see our dedicated Volunteering page here on the website to give you an idea of how our current volunteers support us, and what their experience of giving their time at Bright Shadow is like. We have some vacancies published on CharityJob for 3 of our 4 groups:

Medway, who meet in Gillingham on Tuesday mornings, 10am-12pm

Deal, who meet on Thursday mornings, 10am-12pm

Hythe, who meet on Thursday afternoons, 2pm-4pm.

Simply follow the link to the Zest group nearest you, and fill out some brief information! Niamh, who manages our volunteering offer, would then reach out and take your interest forward.

Come and join our creative dementia-positive community!
