In 2015 and 2016 Bright Shadow worked with the Beaney House of Art and Knowledge to deliver two Museum on Prescription projects. Evaluated by UCL, these projects provided and opportunity for older people to come to weekly sessions where we looked around the museum collections together and then enjoyed some creative activities in response to what we had seen.
We really enjoyed working on these projects, adapting our Zest workshop model to suit the Beaney’s collections and incorporate some of their handling objects. It resulted in some brand new themed workshops including Ancient Egypt, Science and Invention and Hop Picking! Both we and the participants loved the opportunities to learn new things and have fun together as we took part in creative activities from Serbian folk dancing to learning traditional Hop-picking songs.
